The Hate

The hatred is real,

It comes big,

It comes small,

It came with the package.

And lurks in us all.

We’re all given choices,

Over hundreds per day

To love or to hate,

Or be truly non-swayed.

To decide

That you ride

On the side

Of the snide.

Is to say

That your way

Should be grey,

And to stay.

And if that’s what you want,

Don’t let life slow you down

By all means, hate the world,

Hate your job, hate your town.

If your going to hate,

Go ahead, have your fun.

But hate for good reason,

There’s more than just one.

Yes there’s plenty of reasons

To not like your neighbor.

Sure, there’s plenty to like,

But that’s just not your flavor.

Hate his truck,

Hate his dog,

When it shits on your lawn.

There’s no rulebook that says

We should all get along.

But to not like a color,

Or class

Or affliction.

Or to choose who you hate

Based on pieces of fiction.

Just think of the logic,

It’s silly, you know it.

If someone’s worth hate,

Then they won’t wait to show it.

Hate the cold and the heat,

Hate the weatherman too.

He deserves all the hate

But not cause he’s a jew.

And don’t hate on my luck,

Or my look,

Or my money,

Hate me for saying your daughter looks funny.

It isn’t my fault you were smoking with child

And it isn’t my problem.

You can’t take my style.

Hate me for being the asshole I am,

For talking mad shit while you’re off in the can.

For stealing your lighter,

For stalking your girl,

For shoving a sparkler inside of that squirrel.

There’s a whole lot of folks,

And some just aren’t that great,

There’s enough shitty things

For the whole world to hate.

So let’s just come together,

To agree, we all suck.

Cause it’s just common knowledge—

We humans, are fucked.
